A Peek at Chapter Seven

We got in line according to our seat number and waited to be checked in. Connor was first in the line and there were several people in front of him. I could tell this wait would be a long one. The line was stuck at a standstill and we couldn’t just move to the second step because we had to check our luggage in. The only carry on I would have was the lunch bag Maitane had prepared for me and Connor. The line started to move a bit faster. Since we were a group, we could clear the line much faster than individual people could. There was just the quick check over the tickets from everyone in the group then our luggage. Ms. Ross had to pay extra for her multiple suitcases, but other than that we got out of the line and headed to security within twenty minutes.
Security would end up being a bit slower. There was already one guy who was being escorted out by police for most likely carrying a weapon. What has happened to people these days? From the security station, I could see all the shops and cafés along with a few restaurants. I was getting excited. I promised Maitane I would bring her something and maybe I could find it here at this airport. Security was moving slowly. The group kept inching forward until we finally got to the front. We handed the guards our tickets all at once, and then showed them our IDs and our passports. They stamped the passports and checked over our IDs to make sure we were who our IDs said we were. They checked the lunch bags that Connor and I were given. They didn’t find anything wrong except for the silverware. I took the silverware out and tossed them into the trash. They weren’t passed down throughout the generations like the others were so I just tossed them out.
Finally making it through security, I checked the time. We had about another three hours to blow before our plane departed for London. Connor, Raven, and Jez gathered around a map of the airport. I quickly joined them with Liam. We checked the map and decided to get something to drink at a nearby café. The café was surprisingly extravagant to be in an airport. It was a Cuban café and their coffee smelled extraordinarily good. I was trying to make up my mind about what to get when I heard Connor ask for a sample of the coffee. The lady behind the counter did not hesitate to hand all five of us a sample. I tried it and it was fantastic! I would have to say it was one of the best I have had. It was a bit strong and a tad bitter, but it was just the right blend once I added some sugar and cream. The others seemed to like it as well. I ordered a large cup of the Cuban coffee for each of us and gladly paid the bill. Connor tried to get me to let him pay for at least half, but I refused to let him help. After all, he has helped me plenty of times and I owed him. He shook his head at me and smirked. He was definitely something else.

Not as easy as it looks...

I never thought it would be so hard to write, especially when you’re not feeling good. I just haven’t had the energy to really get up and do anything. And my thoughts just sort of stopped flowing. I keep telling myself that it’s as easy as writing in a journal and all I have to do is sit down and write, but a lot of people out there don’t realize how hard it really is. No one can sit down and write a book or a series in a day; in fact no one can write it all in a week. When I first started to write my novel, I thought I would have it done in a few months since I had it all planned out. But what I didn’t realize is even though I may have it all planned out, there are still things I have to add or change. I’m a woman telling a story through a fictional young man; Floyd. Sure a lot of how he acts is based on me, but he’s still unique in his own way. I base all my characters on people I know or have met, but I still make them as unique as we all are.
I’ve been stuck for the past week on what to do in chapter thirteen. I had to go through and start chapter twelve over again so chapter thirteen would fit in a bit smoother. But I think I know what I’m going to have happen. I sure would like some feedback from those of you who are following my blog. Any ideas or thoughts on how to improve anything would be very much so appreciated. Also, feel free to comment even if you don’t like what I post. The criticism; most would rather not be spoken, I will actually welcome. It will help me improve not only my blog, but my book as well. I want people to want to read my novels since I am writing them so my stories; as crazy as they might be, can be shared with everyone around the world. Just think of it as a story shared around a campfire with a group of friends. I think it will be fun to take you all on the many adventures through my imagination.
Again, I’m sorry my post was a bit late this week. I hope to have another chapter peek posted in the next week or two. I’m hoping to have book one of my series completed within the next few months. Like Rachel Hawkins told me; “There is only one rule to follow; BIC-HAK.” It means: Butt In Chair, Hands On Keyboard.

A peek at Chapter Four!

Chapter Four:
Feelings between Friends
That morning, I woke to a knock on my door. Yawning as I got out of bed, I quickly grabbed a pair of black and yellow basketball shorts then pulled them on. I walked to my door and opened it. Maitane was standing there holding a plate full of sausage, eggs, and a few slices of toast. My eyes widened as I gazed upon the heavily loaded plate. I held out my hands in acceptance. Maitane placed it in my hands. I told her thank you and she smiled. She made her way back down to the kitchen for her own breakfast. I took my plate to my desk beside the window and set it down. My mind flashed back to the previous night. I wondered why my friends had not texted me back. I sat down and picked at my food while I was deep in thought.
I was only deep in thought for a short moment when Darrel walked into my room. I had not noticed him at all while he stood behind me. He looked at me with a strange expression as I gazed into the world of nothingness. He began backing out cautiously. As soon as he got to my doorway, he bolted out.
“Mom! Floyd’s a zombie!” He yelled at the top of his lungs.
I snapped out of it and shot toward my door. I stood in the doorway as I watched Darrel run down the steps. I could not believe he referred to me as a zombie. Out of all things, why did it have to be a zombie? I don’t go around eating peoples’ brains and terrorizing the city. Well, I guess I couldn’t complain. A zombie was much cooler than a regular human. But, I think I’ll stick with being a lycanthrope. At least being what I am, all my senses are heightened. I can see further, smell better, run faster, and even jump higher at my own will. The only rules are I cannot tell anyone and I cannot expose myself in public. Both of which I have already broken, but I was forgiven.
I casually strolled down the stairs toward the kitchen. I could hear Darrel speaking about me being a zombie. An idea had occurred in my brilliant mind. An idea that I knew for sure Darrel was too dumb to figure out on his own. It was perfect since he thought I was a zombie. I held my arms slightly in front of myself and got my zombie stance perfected. Once perfected, I crept into the kitchen and began drooling. Darrel never saw what was coming. I placed a hand on his shoulder and groaned hauntingly in his ear. He jumped up and swung at me, but I dodge it. He proceeded to run away from me, heading to his room to hide. But, I gave chase after him. He screamed like a little girl and I enjoyed every second of it. His screams of terror were music to my ears as I fought to keep from laughing. Brenda, Aldrich, and Maitane were hysterically laughing at the table. Darrel tripped several times while running up the stairs. I crept hauntingly after him. He finally made it to room and slammed the door shut. I was approximately five feet away from his door when I heard him turn the lock frantically. I ran down the stairs laughing hard enough that I felt I could not breathe. I joined my family in the kitchen where we mocked Darrel about the so called “zombie attack” once he came out of hiding. I don’t think any of us had ever laughed so hard in our lives before that moment had happened.
After everything settled down again, I went up stairs to my heaping plate of food at my desk and sat down to eat. I picked my phone up from beside my plate on the desk. Checking for any possible missed messages I soon realized there were none. I put my phone down and continued eating. About thirty minutes later, I had finished my breakfast. So, I got ready to go to school for the day. I was eager to find the reason why my friends were avoiding me. I threw on a white tank and a black light weight jacket then left for school.

Floyd's Friends

Floyd has quite a few friends for having a hard time at school. But after a very complicated issue was brought up, Liam was not so sure about being one of Floyd's best buds. Liam is a careful guy who tends to think the world revolves around him sometimes. He is super jealous of Floyd's "issue" and he want to take on the issue himself. The only problem with that is the "issue" cannot be given to anyone born outside of the cursed families. Connor; however, has an "issue" of his own. The Calhoun Family are the only people able to know about Connor's "issue." Raven; a very intelligent young lady, always sticks up for the guys. She's full of "smart" remarks and quick with the come-backs. She's like a gothic warrior and is constantly protecting everyone's friendship from any harm. She's even helping Liam with his jealousy problem. Jezebel is the newest friend between the four. She's Raven's best friend as well as rival. Raven and Jezebel both have a crush on Floyd, but Raven keeps her's hidden. Jezebel has the same "issue" as the Calhoun Family. The only difference between her and Floyd is that she has more knowledge about the "issue" while Floyd has to wait for his memory to return. The group of friends try to find out how to fix the "issues" that have been continuing since ancient times. Will they accomplish what they have set out to do? Keep checking in to find out when Tale of The Curse -The Pack- is in stores.
